SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
1. PARALLEL OPERATIONS OF FILTERS
The responses of a 140 MHz Band Pass Filter (BW=40 MHz) and a 5 MHz Band Pass
Filter (BW=0.5 MHz) were measured separately. Responses are shown in Figures 1.
and 2.
If two filters must operate in parallel in a common line, virtually no
degradation will result if they are connected to the common line using
Splitter/Combiners. Figure 3. is the measured result of connecting the filters
in parallel with Splitter/Combiners as shown in BLOCK DIAGRAM 1. Less than 1 dB
of extra loss results, the integrity of the individual response is maintained,
and no active circuitry or brute force methods are used.
However, if they are directly paralleled as shown in BLOCK DIAGRAM 2, there is
significant degradation of response as seen in Figure 4.
2. SPLITTER/COMBINER (MULTIPLEXER)
DNP can provide COMBINER/SPLITTERS (MULTIPLEXERS) to enable low loss connection
of 2 (or more) filters to a common port without degrading the performance of the
filters. The units are bidirectional to accommodate both receive and transmit. A
3 port unit is shown in BLOCK DIAGRAM3.
